White Screen

By: Alvin E. Lauran

Leafless trees swiftly swaying through the winds
Austere thoughts emblazoned across the black canvas
Grim images haunting each pace of the forgotten past
I sighed…

Scribbling in vibrant paints what’s left behind
I hear the echo of regrets
Poignant flashbacks of long ago
I cried. . .

Scattered petals as twilight falls
‘Til daybreak its fragrance lost
For a brief moment
I slept…

Perceiving the soft sound of a fallen leaf
Bleak musings slowly fading, remains just a thought
Misty fog gone, the new sun illumined the dark path
I awoke. . .

Linking what’s missing, rainbow appearing
Reflection of people letting go and moving on
Behold the salutation of the new day
I’m alive!
